"Wonder Woman" Dead, Again

In Media on at

The big screen version of “Wonder Woman” has been placed on hold indefinitely. At least that’s what producer Joel Silver told reporters at a recent press conference. The Amazon’s first feature film has been on the books for quite some time now, most recently slated to be written and directed by “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon, before he dropped out due to creative differences. According to Silver, Wonder Woman is expected to have a major part in the upcoming “Justice League” movie “and then we’ll see where we go from there. . . we struggled with it for a while. I hope that we can solve it and make it one day.”

Translation: No time soon.

Bottom line: “Justice League” will perform well enough to warrant a trilogy, which according to Hollywood’s formula, will need to take place before any spin-offs such as Wonder Woman, or the Flash are made. However, if they’re smart, they’ll stray away from the origins bore of the anticipated “Wolverine” and “Magneto” films, and create alternating storylines that can work in between larger ensemble flicks. Best guess: 2014. My question: Why has one of the world’s biggest superheroes had the hardest time transitioning to the big screen?
